Basil's Holiday
I heard the loft open and saw the suit cases
They're going away I could tell by their faces.
But to my big surprise I'm going along too
Have they packed enough goodies and something to chew?
We travelled all night and I stood all the way
There were views to be seen so I coped with the sway
We arrived at the croft and there were sheep all around
I did say hello but they didn't recognise my sound
I played in the heather and ran up and down hills
I swam in the lochs and ate gigantic meals
There were rabbits to chase and a friendly dog nearby
We played in the sun and chased clouds in the shy
We travelled afar and I heard otters shriek aloud
We visited the places where there wasn't a crowd
I drank from the streams and saw deer on the moor
I had my picture taken I thought that was a chore!
Now that I'm home I shall dream of the days
When I slept by the rock that was named MÒr Carraig
Love Basil (3rd July 2000)
